The state of play at lunchtime on the Saturday, the first day of the working weekend. Photo: Laurence Armstrong

By the end of the first day almost all of one side and 80% of the other had been completed before the due point was reached and painting had to be abandoned due to condensation forming on the frames. Photo: Laurence Armstrong

The Sunday saw all the painting completed, including various bits of the pony trucks. The rear of the Loco is being left as much of it is in need of replacement and the pony truck axle box guides need some work doing on them. Photo: Laurence Armstrong

That's it. All painted. The steam brake seen in the left of the picture was left as it was removed, checked out, refurbished and re-fitted. Photo: Laurence Armstrong

The painted front buffer beam. the coupling will need to be changed to the FR chopper type so has not been painted in undercoat. Photo: Laurence Armstrong

One job that was done was the cleaning out of the piston valve chambers. This is what was found inside them (not the 50pence as that is there to judge the size of the debris in the photo)! Photo: Laurence Armstrong,

A view of the drivers-side cylinder front showing the removed studs - and those that would not budge!! Photo: Laurence Armstrong
