Restoration Plans and Working Party Dates

Working parties are normally held each third full weekend of the month, however, there are a number of exceptions..

The majority of those involved in the restoration work are either drivers or fireman on the railway and their services are quite often needed for running the railway during much of the year so in all likelihood the winter period will see most progress on the loco. However, it has been decided that this should not preclude summer working parties therefore work on the loco will continue throughout the year with the exception of August, the peak period on the railway.

On top of the working weekends a group known as Team Wylfa hold regular working parties at Dinas on Tuesday evenings and when their services are not required for other tasks they also work on number 134.  Indeed, it is Team Wylfa that have kept the restoration project alive for the past few years.

The dates have been set for the working party weekends in the first half of 2010:

April: 17-18th Week after Easter

May: 8-9th Beer festival weekend
-- Note this is the 2nd weekend of the Month

June: 19-20th

July: 17-18th

Anyone wishing to come along to the help will be made most welcome HOWEVER please do not arrive unannounced. Work is taking place on WHR grounds and we need to inform the relevant people who is going to be on-site so please contact either Peter Randall or Andie Shaw in the first instance or Clive Briscoe for Team Wilfa. Details on the Contacts page.
